The Schematic Stage:
5-6 years old
Children at this stage have clearly assigned shapes to objects that they are attempting to communicate. The child begins to tell stories through their drawings, changing basic forms as needed to express meaning with a defined order in the development of the drawing. Later other forms develop, clearly recognizable and often become quite complex.
